The minor fight that took place between him and his friends earlier this month over the cigarettes
A 22-year-old man was shot dead by three of his friends allegedly for not allowing them to smoke inside the house as his father was allergic to cigarette smoke. Police have arrested the trio who were on the run since Sunday from Wazirpur.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Brijesh Kumar, who had invited three of his friends over for a party at his house in Sukhdev Nagar, earlier this month. The family, along with the trio, Bhola, Vijay, and Arjun, had registered a missing complaint of Kumar in Ashok Vihar police station on October 11.
"After receiving the missing complaint of Kumar, we found the corpse of a man in a canal near Rohini sector 16. The body was later identified as that of Kumar and was sent for post-mortem," said Milind Dumbere, Deputy Commissioner of Delhi (North-West).
During the investigation, the family stated that Kumar did not have any personal enmity with anyone. Later, they informed the police about the minor fight that took place between him and his friends earlier this month over the cigarettes. Police had also recorded the statements of the three friends who had come to register the FIR with the family.
"We suspected the involvement of the friends behind it and later found that they were on the run. A police team was formed and with the help of tip-offs, we arrested them," said a police officer.
During interrogation, the trio confessed to their involvement in the crime and revealed that on October 9, Bhola had an argument with Kumar over smoking inside his house. Later, the altercation turned violent and Kumar slapped Bhola. This left him feeling insulted and led to the plan to murder Kumar.
"Bhola contacted the other two and invited Kumar to a party and went for a drive after getting drunk on October 10. After a while, an argument broke out between them and Bhola shot Kumar in his head. Later, they dumped the body in Bawana's canal and reported his missing report at Ashok Vihar along with the family," Dumbere said.
