A 21-year-old student undergoing pilot training course died due to electrocution while he, along with three of his friends, was trying to cross a pavement by holding an iron board to avoid water puddles. The incident took place on Wednesday in Ramphal Chowk area of Dwarka and a case was registered on Thursday. The police officials are investigating how the current was flowing in the iron board. The power supply in the area is managed by BSES Mongolpuri division.

The deceased, Bhavesh, along with his three friends, Rupesh, Jayesh and Mervyn were students of Sahil Kumar Aviation Academy, in Ramphal Chowk in sector 7, Dwarka. The students were between the ages of 18 and 22.

On Wednesday, around 9 pm, the students left their academy to return to their PG accommodation in Dwarka. Due to heavy rain, there was severe water logging in the area.

In order to cross the area full of water puddles, Bhavesh decided to hold an RWA iron board to cross the road. The board, however, was near an electrical outlet which caused an electrical shock to Bhavesh. His friends tried to save him, but they also suffered an electrical.

Head Constable Deepak Kumar, who was patrolling the area, heard the screams of the victims. After rushing to the spot, he used his rubber boots to kick off Bhavesh to free his hands from the iron board.

According to Kumar, Bhavesh was seemingly fine initially and even thanked the officer for saving him, but fell down when they were taking him to an auto-rickshaw nearby.

The cop performed CPR on Bhavesh, and later rushed him to Venkateshwar Hospital in Dwarka, but he succumbed to his injuries.

The other students are seeking treatment for their injuries at the hospital. An FIR was lodged in the Dwarka South Police station in the case.
