2 spectators shoot at Kabaddi player

An 18-year-old Kabaddi player was shot at by two men on Sunday, following a dispute over scores amid an inter-block match in southeast Delhi's Dakshinpuri area. Police said the bullet grazed the victim's skull, following which he had to undergo a surgery. He is currently battling for his life. None of the accused could be arrested till late Monday evening.

According to the police, the incident took place around 8.20pm. A Kabbadi match was being played between C Block team and 20 Block team at a park in 20 Block of the Dakshinpuri area. Suddenly, a dispute over scores broke out between the players.

"Amid the scuffle, Dakshinpuri resident Avinash, who was playing for the 20 Block team, was shot at by two boys, who were among the spectators. Police were immediately called and the victim was rushed to the Batra Hospital. A bullet had grazed past his skull. A case of attempt to murder has been registered," DCP (southeast) Romil Baaniya said.

Meanwhile, Avinash's parents told the police that he had participated in the Delhi State Kabbadi Association competitions. "Both assailants have been identified and teams have been formed to nab them," Baaniya said.
