Police sweep in action swiftly, arrest both accused in two hours of the crime

Two men have been arrested for killing a 23-year-old man after he had asked them to return his money in Outer Delhi's Sultanpuri area on Wednesday morning. Police said that the victim had lent Rs 4000 to one of the accused.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Ajay(23) and Sagar (22), both residents of Sultan Puri area. They were arrested from Mangolpuri after they stabbed the victim Yogesh to death in a park. Both the accused were arrested within two hours of the incident.

"On Wednesday morning, while our staff was patrolling in the area, a man named Jitender Kumar informed them that he along with his friend Yogesh had gone to a park where the two men Sagar and Ajay attacked and stabbed his friend. The team immediately reached the spot and rushed Yogesh to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival," said Seju Kuruvilla, Deputy commissioner of police (Outer Delhi).

During the initial probe, whereabouts of both the accused were traced and teams were sent to the spot to nab them.

"The two were nabbed from their relative's place in Mangolpuri where they were hiding. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. Ajay disclosed that he had borrowed Rs 4000 from Yogesh. Around a week ago, Yogesh asked him to return the money however when Ajay failed to do the same they got into a scuffle," said Kuruvilla.

"Ajay further revealed that following the scuffle he planned to eliminate him," police said.

"On Thursday morning, Ajay along with Sagar waiting outside his house when Yogesh and Jitender reached the spot. Soon they engaged into a heated argument. During the scuffle, Sagar suddenly held Yogesh from the back while Ajay attacked stabbed him with a knife. The two dragged the 23-year-old's body to a nearby park and fled from the spot," said Kuruvilla.

"The two accused are vagabonds and did odd jobs to fill their stomachs," police added.
