Delhi Police on Thursday arrested two persons for allegedly gang-raping of a 17-year-old girl in Safdurjung area of south Delhi earlier this week.
The two accused were identified as Narender and Rohit, while the third accused Tinku is still absconding. Police sources informed that the duo were arrested from Gurgaon where they were hiding at an acquaintance's residence.
"Efforts are on to nab the third accused as the duo have provided important details about his possible contacts in and around the Capital," a senior police official investigating the case said. Preliminary investigations revealed that the three accused were unemployed and known to the victim. They are dependent on income generated from renting properties.
On Tuesday night, the victim, a resident of Humayunpur village and student of reputed south Delhi school, was allegedly gang-raped in an isolated parking lot in Pillanji area of the south Delh
The victim went on a drive with one of the accused Rohit and after they drove some distance, two of his other friends joined them in the car. The trio, as per the complaint, offered her a soft drink laced with sedatives which turned her dizzy.
They immediately drove the car to an isolated parking lot near Pilanji village where all three accused took turns to rape the girl. Later, after medical examination of the victim at a government hospital, a case was registered on Wednesday afternoon under section 376 of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police have recovered and impounded the Hyundai Verna car allegedly used for the crime.
