The Income-Tax department is now probing how many of them have made donations to AAP
The Income-Tax (I-T) department, which is probing the funding of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has identified a single address in Delhi's Jasola area, under which 188 companies have been registered. The department is now probing how many of them have made donations to AAP, sources told DNA.
Tax sleuths are also scrutinising 134 companies owned by one RJ Kumar. I-T officials say the probe was launched even before sacked water minister Kapil Mishra made allegations of hawala transactions by AAP.
Mishra, who was discharged from the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on Monday evening, announced that he will submit a complaint to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) over the alleged financial irregularities.
Documents accessed by DNA show that the party allegedly made illegal transactions through many bank accounts and 16 shell companies.
The department had started probing the role of Lunar Builders Pvt Ltd, Glamour Steels Pvt Ltd, Skyline Metal and Alloys Pvt Ltd, Hardeva Steel Works Pvt Ltd, Vishal Digital Studio Colour Lab, Mould Trading Pvt Ltd, Trunklink Vinmay Trading Pvt Ltd, Ever Bright Trading Pvt Ltd, Overseas Fashion Export Pvt Ltd and Yellow View Trading Pvt Ltd.
Also, they are probing donations made to AAP by Amit Kumar Sexena, Mukesh Kumar and Yogesh Chand and Priya Bansal. It is alleged that AAP received Rs 90 lakh as donation from a person identified as Priya Bansal of Bengaluru in 2014-15 and 2015-16, but the tax payable on her income was merely Rs 4,000.
Mishra also said that he will provide evidence on alleged financial irregularities by Kejriwal and other members of the party. He had alleged that AAP had received "crores of rupees" from "shell companies" run by people close to Kejriwal, including AAP legislators Shiv Charan Goel and Naresh Yadav.
AAP has maintained that Mishra has been speaking on behalf of BJP. "The same allegations were made by the BJP before the 2015 Assembly elections," AAP MLA and senior party leader Sanjay Singh had said.
The I-T department has started probing the role of Goel and his connection with Skyline Metal and Alloys that donated Rs 2 crore to AAP. The department is also probing the role of some banks.
Mishra claimed that he had seen health minister Satyendra Jain paying Rs 2 crore to Kejriwal.
