Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), primarily known for guarding airports and Delhi Metro will witness a massive addition in 2018 as more than 18,000 under training cadets are ready to be deployed across country. Around 2500 of these will be inducted in Delhi, to guard metro, airports and other important installations like monuments and sensitive government buildings.

With this, percentage of women in CISF also rises to 5.53%.

Senior CISF officers said that the total number of Jawans who will join the force this year is 18,586. All of these, including 1600 women cadets are at present under training at six different training sites of the CISF and will be inducted in phases, throughout the year.

After induction of these women trainees in the CISF, the strength of women in the force will be more than 8,300, which brings the percentage of women in CISF to 5.53 per cent.

"Trainees are undergoing training at six Regional Training Centres (RTCs) and one Subsidiary Training Centre of CISF. Distribution of these cadets in RTCs is 2,141 in Arakkonam (Tamil Nadu), 3,265 in Barwaha (Madhya Pradesh), 2,385 in Behror (Rajasthan), 3,338 in Bhilai (Chattisgarh), 5,247 in Deoli (Rajasthan) and 2,098 in Mundali (Odisha). Apart from this 112 are at STC Shivgangai in Tamil Nadu, making it a total of 18,586 under training cadets," said Hemendra Singh, PRO and AIG, CISF.

CISF was allocated 20,449 constable recruits in 2017, of which around 18,600 are currently undergoing basic training. Singh said, with this CISF becomes first among the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to conduct basic training for such a large number of recruits in one go.

"This was the Herculean task, all necessary arrangements were made in the RTCs on war footing to provide necessary infrastructure for training without compromising with the quality of training. New concepts such as 'Training Battalion' and 'Mentoring' have been introduced in order to make the training more realistic and meaningful. The training curriculum and methodologies were also suitably modified focusing on areas which constitute the core competence of a Constable in CISF," he said.
