Greater Noida police, on Saturday, arrested one cow vigilante for beating two persons in the area and have detained six persons in connection with the beating up of two people for carrying cattle. The police say they will make more arrests soon. During interrogation, police officials said, the arrested accused claimed that he was not associated with any outfit.
Ajay Kumar Sharma, Jewar police station in-charge said that the arrested accused has been identified as Gaurav Kumar (24), son of Ved Prakash. "He also hails from Jewar area. We conducted raids on Friday night to nab him. We have also detained six more persons and they are being questioned," Sharma said.
Earlier, two persons were brutally thrashed by a group of so called cow vigilants for allegedly transporting cows in the Jewar area on Friday. The victims were identified as Jaibeer Singh (30) and Bhoop Singh (50), residents of Sirsa Manjhipur. Ironically, the miscreants, after thrashing the victims had taken them to the police station for legal action. But, instead of taking action, the police allowed them to leave the station.
A probe has also been started as to why cops did not act against the accused when they took the victims to the police station.
Meanwhile, the condition of Jaibeer and Bhoop Singh remained critical. Jaibeer Singh Chauhan's brother Babu Chauhan, said that the family is unhappy with the treatment of district police and administration. "Both are screaming of pain and even after that situation they were discharged. They need proper medical attention. We urge state government to provide sufficient medical help," he said.
