Team India announced, Virat Kohli rested for ODI series against Sri Lanka

Indian captain Virat Kohli has been rested for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka. However, he will play in the third test of the ongoing series. 

The selectors named the squad for the third and final Test of the ongoing Paytm Test series against Sri Lanka on Monday. They also announced the squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series. 

Rohit will captain the side in the absence of Kohli while MS Dhoni will return as the wicketkeeper. 

Kohli had earlier launched a direct attack on the Indian board for their poor series scheduling and had said there isn't much time to prepare for South Africa since the team won't get enough break post the conclusion of the ongoing Lankan series.

There was some confusion over whether Kohli will be picked for the third and final Test against Sri Lanka. However, chief selector MSK Prasad had earlier said that Kohli will be available for all the three Test matches against Sri Lanka. 

Virat had publicly admitted that he is also in need of a rest. "Definitely I do need rest, why don't I need rest? When I think of the time my body should be rested, I'll ask for it. I am not a robot you can slice my skin and check I bleed," Kohli had said to reporters on the eve of India's first Test against Sri Lanka.
