Wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha returns to the Test squad after missing 14 matches since suffering a series of injuries.

First, a hamstring during the 2018 Cape Town Test ruled him out of the rest of the South Africa series. Then followed a thumb injury during 2018 IPL and then a shoulder injury that required surgery.

Fighting his way back to fitness, Saha could not be denied another opportunity, even though Rishabh Pant has delivered as a Test wicketkeeper-batsman, scoring a century each in England and Australia in Saha's absence.

"We have an unwritten norm that the established cricketer, when he gets injured, and when he comes back, an opportunity should be given to him," Prasad said.

"So, that's how we have given a comeback opportunity to Wridhiman Saha."

Saha, 34, and Rishabh Pant, 21, will be the two wicketkeepers, though Andhra's KS Bharat was also in the picture for Test selection.

"Stellar performances which KS Bharat has been doing for India 'A' – in the last three series he has got three centuries and has picked up about 50 dismissals, which is fantastic, and he was very, very close. Rishabh, KS and Saha, are the guys whom we will be looking at Test cricket for some time," said Prasad.

Asked if Saha will be the first-choice wicketkeeper, Prasad said: "We will have to see that, the discussion is definitely there. But Rishabh Pant has not done anything wrong for his non-inclusion in the playing XI. In fact, he is the only wicketkeeper, who has got a hundred against England in England, a hundred against Australia in Australia. Pant is going to play in all three formats but we also have to see his workload management. Definitely Saha and KS Bharat will come into the picture at some point of time."
