World Cup 2019: Despite putting on a low total of 224 for 8 in 50 overs, India managed to win by 11 runs against Afghanistan at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. While many praised Gulbadin Naib and his team's efforts, many even blamed MS Dhoni for his slow innings.

Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also admitted that he was not happy with the way India's middle-order batsmen played against Afghanistan.

Particularly pointing out the partnership between MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav, the 'Master Blaster' said that the duo were too slow in their approach against Afghanistan's spinners. Dhoni made 24 off 36 in that partnership while Jadhav scored 31 off 48 balls which slowed down India's target goal chase.

"I felt slightly disappointed, it could have been much better. I was also not happy with the partnership between Kedar and Dhoni, it was very slow. We batted 34 overs of spin bowling and scored 119 runs. This was one area where we didn't look comfortable at all. There was no positive intent.

"There were more than 2-3 dot balls. After Virat got out in the 38th over and till the 45th over we hadn't scored many runs. There were not enough outings for the middle order batsmen till now and that put pressure on them. But the intent could have been much better by the middle order batsmen," Sachin Tendulkar told India Today.

Virat Kohli top-scored among all with 67 runs while Jadhav contributed with 52.

In the second innings, it looked as if Afghanistan were all set to give India their first defeat of the tournament with Mohammad Nabi scoring 52 off 55 balls but the Indian bowler led by Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami's hattrick changed the dynamics. Afghanistan were bowled out for 213.
