India completed an emphatic victory against Sri Lanka in the fourth ODI on Thursday thanks to centuries by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The two premier limited overs batsmen made light work of the hapless Lankan attack in their 219-run second wicket stand.

After the end of the game, the duo got together for a rendezvous, where they discussed Team India's rise over the past few years. Rohit had the mic in his hand, with skipper Virat giving the answers.

The highlight of the interview, however, was Virat not mentioning Anil Kumble's contributions while acknowledging the role of the support staff.

Rohit begins the conversation begins by saying, "Congratulations, the team has been performing exceedingly well since you have taken over." Virat replies, "Thank you, it's been amazing to lead this team."

Virat says that this Indian team is very hungry to perform and it makes his job very easy. He even went on to say that he is just there to adjust the field as rest of the work is done by the players.

It was very hot and humid in Colombo and Virat revealed that they planned not to run for 2s after the 16th over. He said that they were enjoying batting so much that the batsmen did not even look at the scoreboard while batting.

Finally, vice-captain Rohit asked his skipper about the role of support staff in the team's commendable run. Virat replied, "The support staff's contribution is massive. I was given the captaincy in 2014 end against Australia and how we were number 7 then and how we are number 1 under the same group of people."

"They are very special to the team and they gel well with the boys. All the way down to Raghu, who's the main reason why all of us have been able to take our batting to the next level. He and Sanjay Bangar have worked relentlessly," he said.

"And Sridhar fielding wise, Arun paaji with the bowlers, Ravi bhai giving the guys confidence and just unlocking their games in a way that I haven't seen many people do before. His way of motivating people is on another dimension. We really enjoy working with them, it's like a big family, and we're really really happy in each other's company," concluded Virat.

Well, it seems the skipper has forgotten that Kumble was the coach of the Indian team for the major part of his captaincy tenure up until now. It was under the legendary leg-spinner's watch that Team India achieved massive success in their grand home season of Test cricket in 2016-17. It would've been nice of Virat to put aside their differences and mention Kumble's name in his speech, even if it was just in passing.
