Team India are currently taking on West Indies in a three-match ODI series in Chennai at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday (December 15).

Upon winning the toss, Windies skipper Keiron Pollard decided to send the home side in to bat first.

India got off to a very patchy start after losing their top order Rohit Sharma(36), KL Rahul(6) and Virat Kohli(4) early on in the innings.

It was thanks to some brilliant hitting from Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer that the "Men In Blue" managed to grab hold of the match.

After a long time, Pant played a high-flying innings of 71 runs off 69 balls.

The wicketkeeper-batsman also secured a maiden ODI half-century to his name in "Men In Blue" colours.

Ever since Pant was brought in as Dhoni's replacement into the Indian squad, he has faced a lot of criticism from the fans.

The southpaw's form with the bat, wicket-keeping skills and his suggestion to skipper over DRS calls have all been below average and has caused a lot of people to raise fingers towards his selection in the national side.

However, fans were delighted with Pant today as they kept chanting his name during his top-notch innings which helped India hoist a score of 287/8 from their 50 overs.
