England take on Australia in a much-awaited semifinal matchup between the two sides in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

Upon winning the toss, the Aussies decided to bat first and got off to the worst start possible in Birmingham on Thursday. Archer dismissed skipper Aaron Finch for a duck while Chris Woakes picked up David Warner and Peter Handscomb.

It was now down to Steve Smith and Alex Carey to steady the ship and build a much-needed partnership as the English pacers kept dominating the play.

Jofra Archer was in his element today as he kept serving threatening short bouncers against the two Australian batsmen and one of those deadly deliveries caught Carey on the chin.

Archer's quick bouncer went up off the pitch and flew between the gap and clattered into the grille of Carey' helmet.

The raw pace and power of Arche sent Carey's helmet flying off.

This heavy blow did cause considerable damage to Carey's chin, cutting it open.

The Aussie physio came on to patch the wound of the wicket-keeper batsman so that he could continue playing.
