Indian women's cricket team made sure to bring smiles to millions of fans after they ended the 26-match unbeaten streak of Australia in ODIs at Harrup Park on Sunday. This was India's highest-ever successful chase in ODIs.

Team India did lose the series 1-2, but it could have been the other way around as the visitors suffered heartbreak in the second ODI as due to a few misfields and a no-ball in the final over the Australian side romped to home scoring 13 runs in the final over as they chased down a score of 275.

The third match too went to the final over and it was a redemption for Jhulan Goswami, who had faced heartbreak in the 2nd ODI after India were denied a win.

While the series loss was felt by cricket fans, they surely enjoyed India ending the home side's historic 26-match winning streak in the 50-over format that started against the same opponents as captain Mithali Raj mentioned after the game.

As netizens praised the women's team efforts, one surprise praise came from former England captain Michael Vaughan. The former cricketer, who has always been critical when it came to the Indian team, shocked Twitterati after he retweeted Smriti Mandhana's post and wrote, "Fantastic win .. Well done".

Soon after, netizens started asking him the reason for the sudden praise and even wanted to know if he was looking for a job opportunity in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

As for the women's teams victory, many cricketers - current and former, experts and even fans want India to have a Women's IPL. As domestic franchise competitions in the UK (Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, The Hundred) and Australia (Big Bash League) have led to an improvement in the quality of cricket, many want BCCI to have a full-fledged league with at least five or six teams.
