This is how Sourav Ganguly had described MS Dhoni's batting prowess during 2004 Bangladesh tour

Former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Team Director Joy Bhattacharya recently revealed how ex-Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly had described when he saw MS Dhoni for the first time.

As per Joy, Ganguly described Dhoni as a 'Chabuk batsman' during India's tour of Bangladesh back in 2004.

That tour was also the now 39-year-old's first international tour after his successful triumph for India-A against Pakistan A and Kenya A in a tri-series.

"I remember being on a flight to Bangladesh in 2004 and Sourav was just telling me ‘we have this chabuk new batsman’. 'Chabuk' means whipped. He said 'chabuk new batsman' who has come out."

"You have to see him, MS Dhoni is going to be a star," Bhattacharya said in 22 yarns podcast on YouTube.

"One thing he was just fantastic at was that he would just see you and he would know the talent. If you have the talent, he would back you. It didn’t mean that you could not get runs, you could fail, it didn’t matter to him. Because he knew on the day you had the ability to score," he further added.

After his debut, Dhoni then went on to take over the charge as the Indian captain from Ganguly and worked wonders during his time as the Men In Blue leader.

India, under the leadership of Dhoni, won the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ICC Men's World Cup in 2011 and the 2013 Champions Trophy.
