These pics of MS Dhoni interacting with kids of Army Public School, Srinagar show the binding power of cricket

When former Team India captain and Lieutenant Colonel (Honorary) Mahendra Singh Dhoni came calling, the students could not resist their enthusiasm to see the inventor of the helicopter shot in the flesh.

Donning army battle fatigues with maroon beret of Special Forces, Dhoni visited the Army Public School in Srinagar and interacted with the students.  Dhoni mingled with the students and shared his experience with them.

During his interaction with the students, he emphasized on the importance of education and sports.

“Lt Col (Hony) Mahendra Singh Dhoni interacting with the enthusiastic children of APS Srinagar emphasized upon importance of studies and sports”, tweeted the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army.

Later he joined the students for a group photograph on the lawns of the Army Public School.  Even some officers were even seen taking selfies during the event.

It is not for the first time Lieutenant Col Dhoni is visiting Jammu and Kashmir.  On June 2, 2012 Dhoni travelled to the forward areas at Bhimbar Gali in Hamirpur and Kalsian in Naushera Sector on the Line of Control and interacted with the troops.

A day later Dhoni visited the Aman Sethu, the last Indian army post on the line of control (LoC) in Uri sector of North Kashmir.   On his arrival at Baramulla, he was received by the current army chief General Bipin Rawat who was then Major General and General Officer Commanding of the Dagger Division.

The then President Pratibha Patil granted the the rank of honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army in September 2011.
