Rohit Sharma on Wedensday completed a hat-trick of double hundreds in One Day Internationals. While Rohit holds the world record score of 264 versus Sri Lanka in Kolkata, he scored his first ever double ton - 209 against Australia in Bengaluru, back in 2013. Enroute to his 3rd double hundred the stylish batsman set and broke many records.
# In all, seven double hundred have been scored in ODIs and three belong to the stylish Mumbaikar.
# The other four double hundreds have been hit by Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Martin Guptill and Chris Gayle.
# Rohit's 208 not out against Sri Lanka today is the second highest individual score by a captain in ODIs with Sehwag's 219 against West Indies in Indore back in 2011 still toping the charts.
# Rohit now has 16 hundreds from 173 ODIs with 6417 runs to his credit.
# Rohit completed his 200 in 153 balls. While Rohit scred his first 50 runs in 65 balls, he reached his hundred in 115 balls. The next two fifties came in just 17 and 18 balls.
# Rohit Sharma took just 35 balls to go from 100 to 200.
# Rohit also equalled former India opener Virender Sehwag to score his 14th century as opener in the 50-overs format.
# Sehwag had scored 14 ODI hundreds as opener in 204 games while Rohit brought up his 14th hundred as an opener in just 89 games. He now has master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and former India skipper Sourav Ganguly ahead of him. Tendulkar scored 45 ODI 100s as opener in 344 games, Sourav scored 19 centuries as opener in 242 matches.
# Rohit now also has 6 centuries in this calendar year in 20 games. Tendulkar scored more centuries in 1998 when he hit 9 centuries in 33 games. He also scored 6 centuries in 1996 from 32 games. Sourav scored 7 centuries in 31 games in 2000 — his first year as captain of the Indian team.
