Team Rajasthan has come out all guns blazing the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. On Tuesday, pacer Deepak Chahar sealed the game with his blistering 5-15 helping team register a 22-run victory over Karnataka. Chasing the target of 161 runs, Karnataka batters were rendered ineffective by Deepak in the playing conditions that were batsmen-friendly.
Chahar dismissed R Samarth (6) and Abhimanyu Mithun (0) off successive balls in the fourth over and in the sixth over he was on a hattrick again with wickets of CM Gautam (2) and Stuart Binny (0).
Amid the ruins, Aniruddha Joshi waged a lone battle with a 45-ball 73 not out as he along with K Gowtham (13) only got to double-digit scores in a disappointing run-chase.
With four days to the Indian Premier League auction, the former Rising Pune Supergiants pacer could not have timed his performance better.
Earlier in the day, after winning the toss Vinay Kumar opted to bowl first, but could not deny Rajasthan a good. Openers Aditya Garhwal and Ankit Lamba took on the bowling with great ease to stitch a power-packed partnership of 47 runs. After Aditya was sent packing at 31 (19) by Arvind Sreenath, Ankit collaborated with Salman Khan (20) and the duo added another 67 runs to the total. Ankit yet again produced a decisive knock of 58 (47) that had set the game for Rajasthan.
The result leaves Rajasthan with two wins from two Super League outings.

Here’s what Deepak Chahar has to say about his career-best T20 performance against Karnataka and his team’s prospects in the tournament:
DC. It is on of my bests performances. Given that five wickets have come in just 4 overs and on a pitch that was more of a batsmen’s paradise makes it all the more special. It is a rare happening for anybody in any format.
DC. I am finding the the new SG ball quite bowler-friendly. It is smaller in size than Kookaburra Turf ball and thus it is easier to grip it better.
DC. We are playing really well as a unit and I don’t see nay reason why Rajasthan cannot win the tournament. Next challenge is Mumbai and Punjab, but we are hopeful of thumping them too.
DC. Who doesn’t like bowling with a new ball? After a long time I have got the opportunity to open bowling and since I have done it to perfection, I hope the team will make use of me in similar fashion in the future as well.
DC. I don’t have any favourite. Any bowler who is bowling well from the other end makes for a good bowling partner as the pressure gets divided.
