Surprises galore as Indian squads for South Africa tour and Sri Lanka T20s announced

The All-India Senior Selection Committee met in New Delhi on Monday to pick the team for the upcoming South Africa tour as well as the T20I series against Sri Lanka.

A 17-member squad has been named for the three Tests to be played at Cape Town, Centurion and Johannesburg between January 5 to January 28. The three T20 Internationals against Sri Lanka will be held on December 20, 22 and 24 at Cuttack, Indore and Visakhapatnam respectively.

As was expected, India are going in with five pacers for the all-important South Africa tour.

For SA tour: Virat Kohli (Capt), Murali Vijay, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (VC), Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Parthiv Patel, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah.

For SL T20s: Rohit Sharma(Capt), KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Dinesh Karthik, MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Basil Thampi, Jaydev Unadkat.
