Australia captain Steve Smith won his second Allan Border Medal on Monday, becoming the fifth player to claim the country's highest individual cricket honour more than once.

He received the award during a glittering ceremony at the Crown Hotel in Melbourne. While Smith stole the limelight for his heroics over the past 12 months, fans on social media were treated to some candid action from the red carpet at the event.

Cricket Australia (CA) shared an interesting video on their official social media accounts, where players and their respective spouses were seen talking about what the cricketers do once they're home after a long gap.

The most interesting bit in the video comes early, when Smith's wife reveals the Australian captain 'takes out the garbage first thing'. The clip ends on an adorable note when former Aussie skipper Ricky Pontiing's little son says he likes to cuddle with his dad as soon as he comes home.

Here's CA's post

Smith, who recently guided his team to a 4-0 Ashes triumph over England, joined Ricky Ponting (four times), Michael Clarke (four), Shane Watson (twice) and David Warner (twice) as a multiple winners of the award, Cricket Australia said on Monday.

The 28-year-old Smith, who scored his highest test score of 239 in the third match of the series against England in Perth, also picked up his second test player of the year award.

"I'm pleased that I can be sitting here today and be recognised for what I've done over the year," Smith said. "I don't play for these kind of awards, I play to try and help the team win and stand up as the leader of the side... It's been a challenging year and I'm proud of the way I have accomplished a few things," he added.

Smith, who also won the Allan Border medal in 2015, accumulated 246 votes ahead last year's winner Warner (162). Spinner Nathan Lyon (156) was third.

All-rounder Ellyse Perry won her second Belinda Clark Award for the best woman player and Warner was named top one-day player for the second year in succession. Aaron Finch took the T20 award.
