Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma involved in yet another run-out!
Updated : Feb 13, 2018, 06:54 PM IST
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were involved in yet another run-out on Tuesday. The skipper was dismissed after a mix-up with the opener during the fifth ODI between India and South Africa in Port Elizabeth.
The incident happened in the 26th over of the Indian innings, bowled by pacer Morne Morkel. Rohit, batting on 75 at the time, dabbed the ball towards the point region. Before the Mumbaikar could realise, Virat had come more than halfway down the pitch in search for a single. Rohit sent the skipper back but JP Duminy came running in from point and threw a direct hit with Virat well short.
Although Rohit did take a small start after playing his shot, Virat had no business running full throttle for that single. There was no chance either batsmen would've made it. Virat, of course, was livid and made his annoyance known with his usual animated gestures.
Twitter was frustrated after the mix-up between India's two best ODI batsmen. Virat was batting on 36 at that time and was looking good to get his 35th ODI century. This was the seventh time there was a run-out when the duo was batting together. Virat has gotten out five of those times, with Rohit falling on the other two instances.
Another Rohit-Kohli run-out...... Kohli is getting involved in a few. With his speed, his assessment of a single is probably different from anyone else's.

Rohit Sharma is under cover agent of Sachin Tendulkar, he is in the team just to stop Virat Kohli from scoring centuries.#INDvSA

Terrible mix-up, waste of a wicket, perhaps the most valuable: of @imVkohli. Not the first time this has happened when Kohli & @ImRo45 are batting together. India in fairly strong position but such mishaps can turn things around quickly. Onus on Rohit increases to bat thru now

You only have 3 batsmen in the team and Kohli makes sure one of them gets run out once every two matches.

Rohit ~ 1, Drop One Of My Catches, And 2, Let Me Run Out Virat Kohli...
Kohli is very fast. He perhaps needs to think whether his batting partner is as quick.

When Rohit and Kohli are on crease it's mandatory for one to get run out

Kohli & Rohit Sharma run out.
South Africa won the toss and asked India to bat first in the penultimate fifth ODI of the six-match series at the St George's Park in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday.
Following the toss, Indian skipper Kohli said that they too would have opted to bowl first had they won the toss, adding that they would try to restrict South Africa to a low total.
"We wanted to bowl first as well. Restrict them a total that we could chase down. The whole idea was to bowl at them for 50 overs with our wristspinners, who can exploit any conditions. Nevertheless, it will be a good wicket to play on throughout," Kohli said.
Meanwhile, Aiden Markram, the stand-in skipper in the absence of injured regular South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis, said, 'Pretty clear on what we want to do. We've heard that it's skidding on under lights and that's the reason we want to chase.'
As far as Playing XI is concern, India are going with the same squad that slump to a five-wicket defeat at the hands of the home side in the fourth ODI in Johannesburg. South Africa, on the other hand, have made two changes. Tabraiz Shamsi has been brought in to replace Chris Morris, who has been suffering from a stiff back.
Leg-spinner Imran Tahir has been left out while Tabraiz Shamsi has been roped in the squad. Heading into the match, the Kohli-led side will look to learn from their mistake in the last tie and wrap up the six-match series. A victory in Port Elizabeth will ensure them their maiden ODI series triumph on the South African soil.
The hosts, meanwhile, are boosting with confidence following the victory in Johannesburg and that they will now look to build on the positives as they have an opportunity to end the six-match series on an even note.
