Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli have massive following on social media. On Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, their followers are over a 100 million easily and all their social media posts garner massive attention. However, there is one player who has achieved something on social media that Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli have not yet achieved in their career. Shreyas Iyer has managed to achieve in social media what Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar have not. Shreyas Iyer, the Delhi Capitals skipper, is being followed by Instagram. Kohli and Tendulkar are not. If one looks at the official Instagram handle on Instagram, it follows only 60 people. One of them is Shreyas Iyer, apparently the only sporting personality from India.

It may be noted that Instagram was earlier following Indian skipper Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma. Instagram may have followed the young gun following his heroics in IPL. None of the popular, seasoned cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar or MS Dhoni are being followed.

Successful IPL

Shreyas Iyer managed to score 500 runs in the IPL and led Delhi Capitals to the final of IPL 2020 where they lost to Mumbai Indians by five wickets. Speaking after the end of the match, Shreyas Iyer had said it was a tremendous achievement for the franchise.

“Ricky, the amount of freedom he gives us is outstanding. The way he motivates players is simply amazing. His team meetings and motivational speeches it quite incredible. The IPL always amazes you, it's one of the toughest leagues to play. I'm overwhelmed to be part of it, and I'm really proud of my boys, the way they have played to reach the final, it's not easy. Winning the IPL would have been better, but we will see to it that we lift the trophy next year. I would like to thank our fans, and we're thankful for all the support that has been showered on us throughout the season,” Iyer had said after the final.

Mumbai Indians always had the habit of winning the IPL title on an 'odd' year. However, in 2020 when everything was so different, Mumbai Indians finally snapped their sequence in grand style. Trent Boult's magnificent opening spell, combined with Rohit Sharma's brilliant fifty in his 200th outing in the IPL, confirmed Mumbai Indians' status as the best side in the IPL as they crushed the aspirations of the Delhi Capitals with a five-wicket win to win the IPL title for an unprecedented fifth time at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. This was Mumbai Indians' fourth consecutive win against Delhi Capitals and Rohit Sharma's side has now matched Chennai Supe Kings as the only other team to defend their title, having won it in 2019. MS Dhoni's side had won the IPL title twice in 2010 and 2011.

It was an IPL 2020 final that started off with Mumbai Indians dominating the opening spell followed by a wonderful comeback from Delhi Capitals thanks to Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant. However, the depth and class of Mumbai Indians' bowling as well as batting proved to be too strong and they fittingly won the match to become the first team ever to achieve five IPL titles and establish a big gap with the remaining teams.
