Shikhar Dhawan is all set to play for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) next year. According to reports, the left-hander is keen to leave Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and join hands with Rohit Sharma at MI.

Dhawan, who has been one of the top performers at SRH over the years, is allegedly unhappy with the Hyderabad franchise for not retaining him initially at the IPL auctions earlier this year. He was only retained by SRH with a 'Right To Match' card for Rs 5.2 crore. It's even rumoured that Dhawan had an argument with SRH coach with Tom Moody during IPL 2018.

Dhawan is undoubtedly one of the premier white-ball batsmen in India, and he has expressed his displeasure to SRH for not getting a similar fee to the likes of Rohit (Rs 15 crore), Virat Kohli (Rs 17 crore) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Rs 15 crore).

"That’s right. If we get a couple of good players as a trade-off (with MI), we’re open to it," a top SRH official was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror.

Although Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab are also showing interest in acquiring the services of Dhawan, the 32-year-old is keen to go to MI, where he enjoys a healthy on-field and off-field equation with Rohit.

Dhawan signed a three-year contract with SRH earlier this year, but he could be released due to his disinterest with the franchise. The IPL auctions will most likely be held in the third week of December. The trading window will remain open till a week before the auctions. There's plenty of time for Dhawan to make the switch.
