Pakistan's cricketing superstar Shahid Afridi has wished 'neighbors across the border' India on its 72nd Independence Day.
Afridi posted a special tweet on Indian Independence Day and hoped that the neighbours will 'resolve their issues for a better, peaceful and prosperous region' soon. He also wished that more frequent cricket matches between the two countries.
“Happy Independence Day to #India, our neighbors across the border. I sincerely hope that from this year onwards, both Pakistan and India work towards resolving their issues for a better, peaceful and prosperous region where India Pak cricket matches can also be frequently held,” Afridi wrote.

The Indian government doesn’t allow any other bilateral series with Pakistan since 2012 due to political tension between the two neighbours.
The two teams will face each other in the Asia Cup this year and then the World Cup next year in England.
Afridi is a popular and polarising figure among Indian fans. He is acknowledged as one of the most explosive batsman. However, his stands on some issues have irked the Indian fans too.
Afridi has recently won some Indian hearts after asking an Indian supporter to straighten her national flag when posing for a picture.
When the 37-year-old was asked for a picture by an Indian fan during the St Moritz Ice Cricket Tournament in Switzerland in February, he insisted on opening the Indian flag so that he could hold it and pose.
The video and picture of the former Pakistan captain posing with Indian tri-colour went viral.

However, he also invited the ire of Indians including some cricketers when he made a remark on the Kashmir issue.
