'Real-life hero': Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal hail Akshay Kumar's Rs 25 Crore donation towards PM-Cares relief fund

Amid the coronavirus lockdown in India and the whole world coming to a standstill, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has pledged to contribute Rs 25 crores to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s coronavirus relief fund called PM Cares.

Team India cricketers Hardik Pandya and Yuzvendra Chahal have applauded Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar's move to contribute Rs 25 crores to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s coronavirus relief fund called PM Cares.

The actor took to social media to share the news and wrote, "This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute Rs 25 crores from my savings to @narendramodi ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Let’s save lives, Jaan hai toh jahaan hai".

The World Health Organisation (WHO) and the governments all around are urging people to stay at home.

Reacting to Akshay's heartfelt gesture, Pandya welcomed the move and claimed that he is now his real-life hero.

"After this you are my real life hero! Respect and respect only @akshaykumar," Hardik tweeted.

Various other athletes have also come forward to help namely Indian sprinter Hima Das, who said that she will donate a month's salary to the Assam government's coronavirus relief fund.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), there are 979 confirmed cases of coronavirus cases in the country and 25 fatalities have been reported.
