Mahenda Singh Dhoni’s wife Sakshi has asked for an arms license stating that her life was under threat, Zee Media reported.

She has applied to procure either a pistol or a .32 revolver. Sakshi asked for the license stating that she is mostly alone at home and also has to move around alone for private work. She said that this puts her life in danger and hence she needed to a buy a weapon.

Incidentally, MS Dhoni had applied for a gun in 2006 and after being initially turned down his request for a 9 mm had been approved. The Centre had cleared his application for license for the prohibited pistol.

The Ranchi district administration had in 2008 sought a character certificate from Dhoni before sending his application to the union Home Ministry.

Incidentally, while in Kolkata, in 2017, MS Dhoni had shown himself as adept at using a gun as he’s with a bat.  The Kolkata Police had posted on their Facebook page: “The great MS Dhoni takes some time off to practice his shooting skills at our state of the art shooting range this afternoon at Police Training School. His accuracy is breathtaking.”

A top Kolkata police official had said Dhoni not only shot in the range but inspired the Kolkata Police recruits with a pep-talk during his visit in the afternoon. "It's great to host Dhoni for the second time. He's an extraordinary marksman and inspired us all," the top Kolkata Police official who accompanied Dhoni told PTI. "It's a state of art shooting range at PTS and Dhoni shot both in the 10m and 25 ranges."
