Despite the coronavirus keeping all apart, the nation today (August 3) celebrates the festival of Raksha Bandhan. While some are home with their family, some are celebrating it virtually. 

Even sports stars are not left behind as they took to social media and shared photos with their siblings to celebrate this joyous occasion.

Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter and said that this year Raksha Bandhan is being celebrated differently. He captioned the images, "This year's Raksha Bandhan is a little different. In spite of the 'temporary' distance, the bond of love I share with my sisters is stronger than ever. Hope all of you have a blessed #RakshaBandhan".

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan too shared many pictures on Twitter and wrote, "We’ve got a bond for a lifetime! Happy #RakshaBandhan to my amazing sisters".

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Suresh Raina said that his sister 'will forever be my favorite companion'.

He captioned the image celebrating the festival: Wishing everyone a Happy & Blessed Raksha Bandhan! Renu, you will forever be my favorite companion! I promise that I will forever be there for you. To all the brothers and sisters, let's celebrate this Bandhan of Love".

Yuvraj Singh too shared memories with his sister on his Instagram handle. He, however, also took a moment to thanks sisters who are working in hospitals and healthcare units, protecting all of by risking their own lives.

He wrote, "Walking down memory lane, remembering some wonderful times spent with my amazing siblings. We may not get to see each other as often as we did during our younger days, but the bond we share has only strengthened over time! Wishing all my lovely sisters a very Happy Rakshabandhan.

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) took to Instagram and shared images of their players with their sisters and wrote, "This #RakshaBandhan, take a vow to protect your sister with a big knot of unwavering love and affection. As for the IPL, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in its Governing Council meeting on Sunday (August 2) has decided to hold the 13th edition of the cash-rich tournament from September 19 to November 10. 

The tournament will see matches starting from 7:30 PM IST and will also witness 10 doubleheaders.
