On the eve of the team's departure to the United Kingdom for nearly three-month long tour, Indian captain Virat Kohli vouched for the fitness test.
"Look at Bumrah (Jasprit) how he was bowling at 144 kmph in his last spell of the last Test in South Africa," he said about Bumrah's speed to YoYo fitness levels.
On his own fitness post neck injury, which ruled him out of his maiden County stint for Surrey before gruelling series in English conditions, Kohli said that he has completely recovered from the injury.
Kohli had a below par batting peformance during his last tour of England in 2014 which led to team's 1-3 series loss in Tests.
Kohli's technical flaws outside the off stump was thoroughly exploited by English pacer James Anderson or for that matter even Stuart Broad as he failed to get a single half-century in the five-match Test series.
"I think lots of people have held on to the last tour of England for too long. I think we have had the Champions Trophy (2017) in between and it wasn't held in Bangladesh," he said.
When asked if he has regrets on missing out on a County stint, Kohli said: "In hindsight when I look at it, I think what has happened was in the best of my interest.
"I would have gone there feeling 90 percent rather than 110 percent that I feel right now. I would rather be like this as I needed to be fresh for the tour. Although not intended but this is the best thing to have happened," he added.
"Yes, I wanted to go and experience the conditions in England; that's a place we haven't played to our potential. It's been four years since we last went there and one tends to forget how the scenario is like there. The swinging ball has the tendency to trouble the best of batsmen. But then that helps our fast bowlers as well," added Kohli.
