West Indies women beat Pakistan with a thrilling Super Over win in the 2nd T20I at the Southend Club Cricket Stadium in Karachi on Friday to clinch the ongoing three-match series against.
Deandra Dottin and Shakera Selman were the stars of the Super Over for the visitors.
Dottin began the over with a four off the first delivery and then hit two consecutive sixes as West Indies scored 19 runs from the over. Selman then removed needed the two Pakistan batswomen in just three deliveries to seal the match. She bowled Aliya Riaz with off the first delivery and then accounted for Nida Dar as Pakistan managed just one for the loss of two wickets.
Earlier, Pakistan had done well to tie the score in the scheduled overs. They had posted 132 for 4 after a bad start thanks to Captain Bismah Maroof (31 off 34), Javeria Khan (26), Nida Dar (25*) and an unbeaten cameo from Aliya Riaz (23 off 13). Dottin was the pick of the bowlers with 2/26 from four overs.
Windies openers adding 30 runs and were 84/1 in 14.2 overs at one time. However, Pakistan pulled things back in the final three overs. With 13 needed from six deliveries, Chinelle Henry gave the hosts a mighty scare hitting a four to start the over as WI wiped off nine runs off the first three balls. However, Nashra Sandhu had Merissa Aguilleira stumped off the fourth delivery and allowed three runs off the remaining two to push the contest into Super Over with WI finishing at 132/6 in 20 overs.
West Indies women had one the first T20I by 71 runs on Thursday.
The West Indies women, making their first appearance in Pakistan in 15 years, agreed to play three Twenty20s there before both teams fly to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for three one-day internationals. The final T20I will be played on Sunday in Karachi.
