Rohit Sharma hammered the English attack on Sunday to score a third Twenty20 International (T20I) and helped India win the three-match T20I series 2-1.

Rohit’s 100 not out included 11 fours and five sixes. The Indian vice-captain has dedicated his match-winning knock to someone special. He tweeted, “Yesterday’s innings is dedicated to my fallen friend Sudan May we find a way to make this world a better place for all of us.”

Sudan was world’s last male northern white rhino, who died in November last year.

The 45-year-old rhino had been in poor health during his last days and needed medical attention almost every day, mostly for age-related issues and multiple infections.

Following Sudan’s death last year, Rohit took to Instagram and posted a picture of himself with the animal and expressed his melancholy over the demise.

“The last Male has fallen We Did This the last Northern White African male rhino marks the certain extinction of this incredible species. Rest in peace Sudan, you deserved so much better. On behalf of all mankind, I’m sorry We Did This,” he had posted.

According to records, following Sudan’s death, the world is left with only two females to save the subspecies from extinction.

Rohit did not contribute much in the series before he mad eup for the same in the final game. Rohit did not have the best of outings with the bat in the first two T20s against England, scoring 32 and 5. But he got back his mojo last night and smashed an unbeaten 100 off just 56 balls with the help of 11 boundaries and five sixes to steer India home.
