One of the hilarious banters on Twitter that took place on Monday among cricket celebrities was between the arch-rivals and now co-commentators Sourav Ganguly and Nasser Hussain.

Reminiscing the beginning of his Test career, an emotional Ganguly posted a picture of himself at the Lord’s captioned, “Back at lords. This is where career started.”

To which, Hussain cheekily responded, “You’re on that balcony again ... nice to see you with your shirt on !!”

One of the most iconic moments in the history of Indian cricket will always remain the sight of Ganguly waving his shirt on the Lord’s balcony after India had defeated England in their own backyard in the Natwest final in 2002.

Earlier that year, England’s Andrew Flintoff had taken off his shirt in Mumbai celebrating England’s win and at the same time mocking India.

He certainly didn’t know Ganguly would not forget it. He would not. And when he would get an opportunity, he would surely avenge it.

Nevertheless, Ganguly's act was received both validation and criticism. While some people thought there couldn't have been a better way to celebrate, others called him out for defaming the 'gentlemen's game'.

Ganguly is in England right now as a part of Sony Six’s commentary panel for the ongoing series between India and England. India clinched the three-match Twenty2- International (T20I) series 2-1 on Sunday by winning the decider match by eight wickets.

The former Indian captain, who turned 46 on Sunday, made his Test debut at the Mecca of Cricket during India’s tour of England 1996. Ganguly’s special moment came in the second Test when he walked in the whites for the very first time and that too in the field of the Lord’s stadium.

Batting first, England posted 344 all out in 130.3 overs. Ganguly bowled some 15-odd overs and even picked up two wickets.

His maiden Test scalp happened to be Nassir Hussien and that’s where began a long rivalry between the two future captains. Ganguly’s other wicket was six-foot tall Graeme Hick.

More history awaited Dada when it was India’s turn to bat. India lost opening batsman Vikram Rathour when they had just 25 runs on the board and then it was time for the world to watch Ganguly, who would go on to become one of the greatest Test batsmen in the world, bat for the first time against the red ball.

Ganguly left the English attack in shatters as he recorded a brilliant century on debut. During his 301-ball stay, he smashed 20 boundaries while scoring 131 runs.

While, he was just the third batsman to score a hundred on debut at the Lord’s, Ganguly was 10th Indian cricketer to have scored a ton on Test debut. So far, 14 Indian cricketers have scored centuries in their debut Tests.
