Mahendra Singh Dhoni offered prayers at Deori Temple in Bundu area of Jharkhand's Tamar, on Thursday on the occasion of Diwali. Meanwhile, fans gathered outside the temple to catch a glimpse of the ace cricketer. Dhoni is a frequent visitor to the temple and has been visiting it since his boyhood.

The temple on National Highway-33 cis an ancient shrine which priests fail to date. They claim that the idol emerged on its own and has been here since time immemorial. The idol of Durga is unique here with four hands as against the usual ten.

Visiting the temple before and after every important assignment was more or less a ritual for Dhoni. While playing in Jamshedpur and on way home to Ranchi, he made it a point to stop by the temple and offer prayers, regardless of time.

According to media reports, Mahi's devotion turned to faith after he started gaining regular success in his cricket career. Once he was inducted into Team India, Dhoni went to the temple, though unnoticed, and as he rose to brilliance in the world of cricket his every visit was mobbed by people and media as well.
