From writing about Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, and others, VVS Laman is making sure to make his teammates feel the love and appreciation he has for them.

Each day, Laxman talks about one teammate, and this time it was former India captain, MS Dhoni. The former India middle-order batsman took to Twitter and heaped praise on Dhoni.

“Blessed with the rare equanimity of viewing cricket as a sport and not a matter of life and death, @msdhoni’s calling card was composure, especially under pressure. The 2007 World T20 triumph catalysed the stirring captaincy saga of a leader who talked through his deeds,” Laxman wrote on Twitter.

Laxman played with Dhoni during the wicketkeeper-batsman’s initial years in the squad and then went on to play under his captaincy.

Laxman was part of the team when the Men in Blue reached the number 1 ranking in Test cricket for the first time. As for Dhoni, he gave India some of its biggest victories in ICC tournaments.

He became the first and only captain to win the ICC WT20 (2007), ICC World Cup (2011), and ICC Champions Trophy (2013).

In Test cricket, India's performance under Dhoni at home was pretty good. However, away from home, India’s performance dipped majorly from 2011 onwards.

Dhoni last played for India in the 2019 ICC World Cup semi-final game against New Zealand. He was due to make a comeback with the Indian Premier League (IPL) and to lead Chennai Super Kings (CSK), however, the tournament got postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.
