With many players sharing their views about the probable Indian World Cup squad, former India skipper Mohammed Azharuddin has also joined the wagon and has picked his starting XI.

According to Azhar, he feels that the young Rishabh Pant and former skipper MS Dhoni, both will feature in the first match against South Africa.

He also feels that Kedar Jadhav will find a spot in the playing XI. However, his list does not contain Dinesh Karthik. When asked about the crucial number four position batsman, he said he would choose Pant over the much favored Ambati Rayudu.

As for the bowlers, he said his squad would include pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami. He says he would only have one fast-bowler and that is Hardik Pandya – which means there is no Vijay Shankar in his squad. Azhar also feels only one spinner will be picked between Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Mohammed Azharuddin’s Indian playing XI for World Cup 2019:

Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (C), Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav /Yuzvendra Chahal.
