Gautam Gambhir on Monday took to social media to flay country's cricket authorities for allowing former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin, banned for life following his role in match-fixing saga of 2000, to ring the ceremonial bell at Eden Gardens before start of the first T20 international against West Indies on Sunday.

Gambhir minced no words in criticising Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), led by former captain Sourav Ganguly, for honouring Azharuddin. He also criticised the BCCI and the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA). "...I am sorry @bcci, COA & CAB lost. Looks like the No Tolerance Policy against Corrupt takes a leave on Sundays! I know he was allowed to contest HCA polls but then this is shocking. The bell is ringing, hope the powers that be are listening," tweeted Gambhir.
