Malaysia Masters: PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal sail to quarterfinals for India

India's star shuttler PV Sindhu secured her place in the quarterfinals of the ongoing Malaysia Masters on Thursday (January 9).

The BWF World Championships defending champion completely outplayed Aya Ohori from Japan in a second-round matchup.

The 24-year-old secured her victory in straight sets, 21-10, 21-15, as the encounter lasted for 34-minute.

Earlier in the day, Saina Nehwal also progressed easily to the next round of the tournament by defeating South Korea's An Se Young.

After a heavily contested first game, Saina cruised to victory by 25-23, 21-12 in a 38-minute clash.

On Wednesday, the 29-year-old knocked out Belgium's Lianne Tan 21-15, 21-17 to progress to the pre-quarterfinals.

However, Parupalli Kashyap and Kidambi Srikanth had to face unfortunate losses in the hands of Japan's Kento Momota and Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei respectively as they crash out of the tournament.
