The social media posts have shown us all that how good friends Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are. But not all are aware of a little but beautiful secret Rahul revealed recently in a chat show about his Indian captain and then girlfriend Anushka Sharma.

Going back Rahul's terrible Test debut in 2014 during India's tour of Australia in Melbourne on Boxing Day, the Karnataka player had managed only scores of 3 and 1 in the two innings. While that beginning to his Test career left him in agony, he found a comforting soul in his captain, Kohli.

Recalling those tough times in his international career's initial stages, Rahul said, "There was one instance after a match at Melbourne where I had a terrible performance. I was miserable and depressed. Anushka, who noticed this, came up to my room and asked me to accompany her and Virat to their dinner date.

I third wheeled on one of the dinner dates. Both Virat and Anushka shared their stories describing moments when they had endured failure in their careers. That made me feel like that I wasn't the only one who ruined his first impression," Rahul recalled.

“They took immense care of me and ensured I was not alone. They even made sure I spent the new year night with them. They are an amazing couple and have really had a powerful influence on me.

“It was nice of Anushka to do it as I didn’t know how she could understand what I was going through. We still stay in touch and exchange a few messages, although Anushka's are about my dog mostly,” Rahul added.

Kohli and Rahul left with the Indian team for their long UK tour on Saturday. India are set to play two T20Is against Ireland followed by a full-fledged series against England. The England series include three ODIs, three T20Is and five Test matches.
