lslamabad United defeated Peshawar Zalmi in a tensed high-voltage final by 3 wickets to win the third edition of PSL in Karachi on Sunday. This is Islamabad United's second PSL trophy in three years. Peshawar Zalmi lifted the trophy last year.

It was all going well for Islamabad United when Luke Ronchi and Sahibzada Farhan gave them a flying start chasing 149 to win. Ronchi continuing rich vein of form hit 52 of just 26 balls. They scored 96 of 52 balls, before Zalmi made a dramatic comeback. They managed to get 6 United wickets for only 20 runs.

With Islamabad United panicking, it felt like the match will go down to the wire. But then, the curse of Kamran Akmal hit Peshawar Zalmi. He couldn't latch onto a skier and dropped Asif Ali. In a comedy of errors, Islamabad got 4 overthrows in that ball. That broke the shackles and it didn't take much for Islamabad United to wrap up the match after that. Asif Ali hit three sixes of Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf did the rest. United reached the target in 16.5 overs.

Earlier electing to bat first, Peshawar never really got the momentum. After in-form Akmal went cheaply, Chris Jordon and Liam Dawson rescued them in the middle overs but wickets at regular intervals harmed their run rate. Jordan top scored with 36 while Dawson scored 33. Wahab's breezy cameo gave a semblance of respectability to Peshawar's total, but finally it wasn't enough. For Islamabad, Shadab Khan was the pick of the bowlers getting 3 for 25.
