Indian film actor, producer and director Arbaaz Khan lost around Rs 3 crores whilst betting on cricket matches, if media reports are to be believed. Arbaaz Khan, 50, is the brother of superstar Salman Khan.

Arbaaz Khan has been summoned to record his statement by Thane police in connection with betting in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday evening. His name reportedly came up while the police were innterrogating a bookie, Sonu Jalan, who was arrested on Tuesday.

According to TV channels Times Now and India Today, Arbaaz had reportedly lost around Rs 3 crores to Jalan.

India Today reported that Jalan is associated with many Bollywood celebrities and his interogation may unearth some big names related to cricket betting.

Jalan had told interrogators that he was asking Arbaaz for the money due to him, said the Times Now report quoting sources close to case.

The sources claimed that there was a dispute going on between the two of them on this issue as Arbaaz was not paying. Jalan then threatened Arbaaz that if he doesn't pay the amount, his name will be exposed.

The channels also showed pictures of Arbaaz and Jalan together.

Jalan has also told interrogators about 2 matches being fixed by him with the help of his other associates, said the Times Now report.

The anti-extortion cell of the Thane Crime Branch on Tuesday had arrested Sonu Yogendra Jalan, alias Sonu Malad, one of the country’s leading cricket bookies. He was arrested in connection with a betting racket that was busted in Dombivali on May 16.

Jalan is allegedly linked with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

Jalan was arrested for providing software to the five bookies who were arrested in the Dombivali case. The software called ‘Bet and Take’ is famous among bookies, said the police.

These bookies were arrested after being caught betting online as well as on their mobile phone during the Indian Premier League match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab at Wankhede stadium.
