Sunrisers Hyderabad in its few years in IPL history has shown great penchant for prudent and quality buys, who deliver the good. True to their reputation, SRH showed its auction form on Saturday. In Tom Moody and VVS Laxman it has two of the most good thinkers of the game, who also follow cricket across the globe closely. And that knowledge about players, was in full display when SRH made some good picks during the auction.
SRH started the auction after retaining David Warner and Bhuvneshwar Kumar-their batting and bowling mainstay. It built on the pillar by using RTM for Rashid Khan, Deepak Hooda and Shikhar Dhawan.
Rashid did really well for SRH last time, and the orange army will be hoping for an encore, Hooda is a quality all-rounder perfect for the shortest format of the game and on his day, Dhawan can be the most destructive player in the world.
Wriddhiman Saha is undoubtedly best Indian keeper and a handy batter. Very little need to be said about pedigree of players like Shakib-al-Hasan, Ken Williamson. Manish Pandey.
It has also got some exciting uncapped talents in Natarajan, Thampi, Kaul, Khaleel Ahmed and Bhui. Brathwaite and Yousuf Pathan are both explosive batsmen and handy bowlers too. SRH has got 16 players and has purse of Rs 7.95 crore left. It would look to get some good back-up players for their first choice options on Day 2 of auction. In terms of picks, SRH comes close second on Day 2, only next to Delhi Daredevils.
