Cricket is a great leveller! One of the most influential player of IPL in the last decade, Chris Gayle has attracted fierce bid in the past. In 2016, he got an impressive purse of Rs 8.4 crore from RCB. However of late, Chris Gayle hasn't exactly set the crowd on fire and his destructive streak is also in wane. Fitness is a major concern too for the prolific West Indian batter, who now prefers to play T-20 leagues across the world.

Gayle, an established T20 player, surprisingly found no bidders despite being a big draw for around last seven seasons of the cash-rich league.

All these factors probably lead to Chris Gayle getting a royal snub in this year's IPL auction. Not a single bidder showed interest on Chris Gayle. RCB had the option of RTM for Chris Gayle at the base price of Rs 2 core, but sadly for Gayle, they didn't show any interest.  He was retained by RCB in 2014. However all is not lost for Chris Gayle so far. He will be back in auction tomorrow and may still get picked up.

Gayle has the record of the highest IPL, scoring 175 against Pune Warriors in 2013. But this year, fans may miss him playing.

Controversial England all-rounder Ben Stokes expectedly triggered a bidding war before going to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 12.50 crore but West Indian swashbuckler Chris Gayle went unsold after the opening round of the IPL auctions, in Bengaluru on Friday.

So far Rajasthan Royals has gone all guns blazing trying to get the big guns. RTM card has been used extensively by the major franchises.
