DD got lot of good picks in the auction.
Delhi Daredevils has been the perennial last boy of IPL. Over the last 10 years, they have tried several combinations even going for the jugular in last few years heavily banking on Indian domestic players. This year under ex-Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting, DD completely rebooted its strategy and ended up with an extremely formidable squad.
It is still big on local talent, but DD also have the foreign superstars to give it a cutting edge. Delhi boy Gambhir is back home. DD got him by just spending Rs 2.80 crore. Gauti will be leading the side too It followed it up with an impressive array of Indian batters in Prithivi Shaw, Manjot Kalra and handy allrounders in Harshal Patel, Tewati, Vijay Shankar, Jayant Jadav and Gurkeerat Singh. .
These players alongside Iyer and Pant who were retained before IPL make DD an extremely formidable unit. It probably has the best batch of young domestic batsmen. The Indian bowling contingent for DD is no push over also. It has the likes of Mishra, Shahbaz Nadeem, Sayan Ghosh. Leading the bowling is Indian international Shami. DD has a handy back-up wiicketkeeper in Naman Ojha, who is also a good batsman.
The foreign recruits for Delhi are pretty decent. Kagiso Rabada will obviously share a bulk of the workload. Boult, Dan Christian and Chris Morris have been successful in the past. The only slight cause of concern will be DD's foreign batting picks. Jason Roy is a good buy who has had success in India. Maxwell has flopped spectacularly in IPL in the past. Munro in his limited IPL experience hasn't really done well. Dan Chrisitan too has had moderate success with bat in IPL.
Thus DD may be missing another explosive foreign batsman alongside Roy. But overall it has a good side. In Gautam Gambhir, they have a person who knows well to use his resources. Can Gauti in fag end of his career help DD break the jinx? They have certainly started in the right note by acing the auction puzzle.

If DD stick to their plan, and the Indian boys play to their potential, there is no reason why they can't reach the knockout stage. Even non-DD fans would be hoping that future of Indian cricket-Prithvi Shaw shows glimpse of his prodigal talent in the richest cricket league of the world,
