Rajasthan Royals are expected to release a few number of players and revamp their squad after they finished last on the points table in IPL 2020
Rajasthan Royals' blow-hot-and-cold season in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) resulted in them finishing on the last place in the eight-team tournament last year. While man of the tournament, Jofra Archer was the stanadout player for men in pink, the Royals unearthed a star in all-rounder Rahul Tewatia, who shined with both bat and ball for the Royals. Tewatia won at least three games for his side with his individual performance whether with the bat in hand or ball.
Otherwise, the Royals had an inconsistent season. Too many changes in the batting order, incoming of all-rounder Ben Stokes after six games of the season, and Archer getting no support from the other end in the pace department led to Royals's downfall in the season.
While there are reports of Rajasthan Royals mulling over releasing their skipper Steve Smith, many other shuffles are expected from the Royals outfit.

Players that could be retained
While the England trio of Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes are certain to be retained by the Jaipur-based franchise, other retentions would include the Indian wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson, Rahul Tewatia, the young pacer Kartik Tyagi and all-rounder Riyan Parag. Apart from that Royals could also retain the pacer Varun Aaron, South African batsman David Miller, youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal and the other leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal.
Players that could be released
While there are reports of Steve Smith not getting retained by the franchise, the Royals squad could also witness the ousters of Jaydev Unadkat, Ankit Rajpoot, Robin Uthappa, Andrew Tye, Oshane Thomas, Tom Curran.
The Royals will be targeting a couple of good pacers to accompany Jofra Archer and two Indian middle-order batsmen to strengthen their squad.
