The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opened up their win account after a terrific victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 8th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. After restricting the KL Rahul-led side to 106/8, CSK batsmen chased down the target with 6 wickets and 4.2 overs to spare.

Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis steered the MS Dhoni-led side with the bat. While the left-handed Ali scored 46 off 31 deliveries, Du Plessis scored an unbeaten 36. Suresh Raina was dismissed for 8, Ruturaj Gaikwad was sent back for just 5 runs. Ambati Rayudu departed for a duck.

The Punjab side, who had scored 200+ in their previous match could not even score half of that score against CSK. Punjab Kings were reeling at 26/5 at one stage, as Deepak Chahar ripped through their top order, and scalped 4 wickets in his 4 overs, and gave away only 13 runs.

Shah Rukh Khan saved the day for the Punjab side as the 25-year-old right-hander blasted a scintillating 47 off 36 deliveries to propel Punjab past the 100-run mark.

As for the IPL standing, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are the only unbeaten side with two wins after two clashes. They are right atop of the points table followed by CSK, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) respectively.
