Speedsters wreaked havoc as Delhi Capitals vanquished Sunrisers Hyderabad by 39 runs in the ongoing Indian Premier League on Sunday and jumped on the second position on the points table.

Keemo Paul (3/17) ran through the Sunrisers top-order before his pace colleagues Rabada (4/22) and Chris Morris (3/22) triggered mayhem in the middle and lower order as Hyderabad went from 101/2 to 116 all out while chasing 157 for a win.

Hyderabad had a steady start, with David Warner and Jonny Bairstow displaying a spiffing form with the bat. Both in-form batsmen kept the scoreboard running and amalgamated 72 runs before Delhi got their first breakthrough, Bairstow (41) provided by Keemo Paul.

At the halfway stage, the Sunrisers were 73 for 1 with 83 more runs needed for a win and they were on track. But the dismissal of captain Kane Williamson (3) off the bowling of Paul in the 12th over was the beginning of the pressure which began to pile on the Sunrisers.

Bhui's dismissal in the 16th over piled on further pressure on the Sunrisers. The asking rate climbed up to 13 an over at the end of 16th over and the home side wilted under pressure with Warner finally falling in the 17th over bowled by Rabada as the batsman hit straight to the hands of captain Shreyas Iyer.

Rabada got rid of Vijay Shankar (1) in the next delivery and with it the game was as good as over in favour of Delhi Capitals. It was then the turn Morris to take three wickets in the 18th over before Rabada ended the Sunrisers run chase with two wickets in consecutive deliveries.

Rabada took four wickets in the match and regained the purple cap with his tally of 17 wickets.

Earlier, Delhi had a bland start as their both the openers, Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan, were sent back to the pavilion in the first four overs.

Colin Munro and the skipper Shreyas Iyer took the charge and duo stitched a 49-run partnership by drubbing boundaries and sixes. Munro made 40 runs off just 24 with the help of four boundaries and three maximums before Abhishek Sharma got hold of him.

Rishabh Pant then joined the skipper and both added 56 runs to the board helping the team to reach a respectable total. Iyer became victim of Bhuvneshwar Kumar while Pant became victim of Khaleel Ahmed after which Delhi could not manage to form a stable partnership and set a 156-run target for the hosts.

Delhi will now host Mumbai Indians on April 18 while Hyderabad will host Chennai Super Kings on April 17.
