With the debate over 'Mankading' still going on, an incident in the match between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians added another chapter to the incident.
During the Kings XI Punjab innings, Mumbai Indians' Krunal Pandya warned Mayank Agarwal before the start of the ball that the latter was leaving the crease early.
Mayank Agarwal was on 19 at the point in the match. He would go on to make an explosive 43 off 21 balls. His innings kept KXIP's chase going when they had lost Chris Gayle while KL Rahul was not finding the runs easily at the other end.
Kings XI were 80 for 1 at that point. However, by the time Agarwal departed, the target had come down to 60 runs from 39 balls.
Ironically the incident came in a match involving Kings XI Punjab. It was KXIP skipper Ravichandran Ashwin who has 'mankaded' Jos Buttler during their Rajasthan Royals to start the whole debate over the rules and spirit of the game.
There were many on Twitter who praised Pandya for his actions including former England Michael Vaughan.
Respect @krunalpandya24 ... that’s exactly how you deal with a Mankad ... Give the Batsman a warning then it’s open season after that ... #IPL2019

Would have been fun to see if Krunal had dislodged the bails 'Mankading' him. Mayank was never getting back into the crease. His momentum had taken him well over. #KXIPvMI #IPL2019

When Mumbai bowling coach Shane Bond was asked by commentator Brendon McCullum on air if Krunal's action was engaging in "gamesmanship", the former said, "Just a subtle dig, mate, at the Mankad."
