Mahendra Singh Dhoni lost his bearings on the cricket field for the very first time as he rushed into the field of play to confront Indian umpire Ulhas Gandhe for not signalling a no ball, an act which certainly seemed out of line.
He has been fined 50% of his match fees for this rather uncharacteristic behaviour.
A clear waist-high no-ball to Santner was ruled out by umpire Ulhas Gandhe after trying to raise his arm. This prompted an angry Dhoni to enter the ground and literally blast Gandhe before leg umpire Bruce Oxenford calmed him and sent him back.
Here's the video of MS Dhoni completely losing his composure.
Santner, however, finished it off in style spoiling a brilliant outing from Jofra Archer (1/19 in 4 overs).
Seeing the captain lose his cool for the first time got Twitter into splits. While some supported what the skipper did, some said it was not right on his part.
This is not a good look for the game ... No place at all for a Captain to storm onto the pitch from the Dugout ... !! #IPL

he is #thala so today mahi had done what we only seen in south indian movies........
As much as Dhoni walking on the ground was terrible, the umpires did not even show the signal that they are reversing the decision. Most bizzare incident and a very low point for both umpires and captains.

Dhoni did the same which we expect with a captain.
Imagine if it would have been the final of ODI World cup ,then all those who are trolling him would have supported him.
At such a crucial moment a captain can't let his team to lose without any genuine cause.
One umpire calls noball the other one declines it. MS Dhoni comes out and exchanges a few words with the umpire. He did the same in Australia too when the third umpire was high on weed. He shows aggression when it is needed. An Absolute Leader

Official broadcaster Star Sports' presenter Murali Kartik lost a golden opportunity ask the former India captain about the incident when it seemed he was game about answering the tough questions.
It was off the fourth ball of the innings, a waist-high full toss bowled by Ben Stokes to Mitchell Santner. Initially, it looked as if umpire Gandhe was about to signal no-ball only to decide otherwise.
Dhoni was seen shouting 'No ball' from the dug-out as Ravindra Jadeja was seen arguing with the umpire. To everyone's horror, an angry Dhoni entered the field of play, which certainly isn't allowed as per rule and took the umpire head-on.
He was seen angrily gesturing at the umpire before leg umpire Chris Gaffaney asked Dhoni to leave the field of play.
However, to everyone's horror, presenter Kartik posed all banal questions when it seemed Dhoni was ready to answer questions.
"You again took the game deep?" asked Karthik and Dhoni wittily replied: "By being there at the end do you mean having a conversation with the umpires?" There was no follow-up questions after that.
