It seems like a marketing gimmick.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have been knocked out of IPL 2018. The team led by India captain Virat Kohli had many big names but failed to live up to the expectations.

The loss has understandably resulted in some anger and frustration from the fans. However, some have gone a step ahead and questioned the fitness of Kohli.

Kohli is considered, for the lack of a better word, a fitness freak. He actively keeps a tab on his fitness regimes, as is evident from his social media feed.

The RCB captain only associates himself with brands that are health-conscious. Therefore, it came across as a surprise for many of his fans when reports regarding Virat’s health emerged online.

In response, Virat Kohli inked an open letter. He wrote,

“Dear Fans,

So, I believe recent pictures of me have been making the rounds for all the wrong reasons. I have received some very confused messages from my fellow fitness enthusiasts and fans.

Tune in to the 1st strategic timeout of the 8 pm IPL match tonight, and I assure you, you will have answers to your questions.

Before I reveal my reasons, I would like to mention that I have always been, and will continue to be very vocal and passionate about the importance of eating healthy. Every individual has his own fitness level and I strongly believe we must do what works best for our bodies. Personally, I love to eat home-cooked meals whenever possible but my guilty pleasure is chips! Which is why you have seen me bingeing on them of late.

I understand, and truly appreciate your concern for my health, but I assure you that my fitness regimen has not gone for a toss (pun intended).

What’s changed? I’ve found my guilt-free timeout.

Yours sincerely,

Virat Kohli”

The letter seems like a marketing gimmick.

Virat Kohli is the brand ambassador for Too Yumm chips, the packaged snacking brand of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group. Too Yumm is promoted as a healthy snack. Virat's post certainly talks about chips and how he has found a healthy way to eat them so it seems it is just a brand prmotion tweet from the Indian captain.

However, we will tune in to listen to Virat.
