IPL 2018 Purple Cap: Mayank Markande returns at top of wicket-takers list after MI v/s SRH match

Mayank Markande returned to the top of the IPL 2018 wicket-takers list to reclaim his Purple Cap. Mumbai Indians' Markande claimed his tenth wicket of IPL 2018 in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

There are three bowlers with 9 wickets just under him in the IPL 2018 Purple Cap list- Sunrisers Hyderabad's Siddharth Kaul joined Trent Boult and Andrew Tye at nine wickets, but remained ahead of them on with a slightly better combined economy rate. Kaul boasts of an economy of 7.17. Boult's economy is 8.33 while Tye had spent 7.91 run per. 

Kolkata Knight Riders' Sunil Narine sits at no. 5. 

Mumbai Indians dominate the IPL 2018 Purple Cap list with four names. Jasprit Bumrah sits at no.6 with ahead of Umesh Yadav and Chris Woakers also have eight wickets.

MI's Hardik Panya and Mustfizur Rahman round off the list. Both have 7 wickets so far. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Mumbai Indians by 31 runs in a low-scoring IPL match on Tuesday, 24 April, forcing the defending champions into their fifth loss in six games in the 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Mumbai ended Hyderabad’s innings at 118 runs in 18.4 overs, setting a seemingly low target. But hosts Mumbai Indians were sent packing, all out for 87 in 18.5 overs at Wankhede Stadium. 

Hyderabad bowlers hunted in pack, with medium pacer Siddharth Kaul picking three wickets, while leg-spinner Rashid Khan and pacer Basil Thampi picking took two wickets each. Sandeep Sharma, Mohammed Nabi and Shakib Al Hasan picked a wicket each.

The leading wicket-taker at the end of the Indian Premier League season wins the Purple Cap award. The bowler with most wickets in IPL during the course of the season gets to wear the Purple Cap.
